A tragic incident unfolded in the Neelbad neighborhood of Bhopal, India, where a couple took the lives of their two children and subsequently ended their own lives.
The distressing event, which occurred on Thursday, July 13, 2023, has been attributed to the husband's mounting debt. In the early hours of the morning, Bhupendra Vishwakarma, 38, sent a heartbreaking WhatsApp message to his family, alerting them to his desperate decision.
Upon discovering the message at around 6 am, the concerned family members promptly contacted the authorities at 6:30 am. Police officers who arrived at the scene found the lifeless bodies of Ritu, 34, and Bhupendra hanging in one room, while their two children, aged 8 and 3, were discovered in another part of the house.
Assistant Commissioner of Police SP Chandrashekhar Pandey revealed that the couple had taken their own lives after poisoning their children due to the overwhelming burden of their debt. During the investigation, a suicide note and a packet of sulphate pills were recovered, shedding light on the couple's ordeal and the tragic sequence of events leading up to their fateful decision.
The note expressed their remorse, the financial challenges they faced, and their desire for their loved ones not to be burdened with their debts. They requested that their family be spared from any loan-related troubles and asked for forgiveness from their parents, siblings, and other relatives.
